As the English became more populous in our area back in the 1700s, they wanted a church that was closer than Newark. They founded the First Presbyterian Church in Orange and began to bury deceased loved ones in the churchyard. West Orange Town Historian Joe Fagan shares some of the stories of the people who are buried there, including Anthony Olef believed to be “Toney” of Toney’s Brook, a young woman whose Revolutionary War era journal lives on, and soldiers who fought in the American Revolution.
