Cultivating friendships and collaboration across racial lines.

Join us to celebrate with activities and a picnic in the meadow at the Montclair History Center (behind the Crane House & Historic YWCA)!

Activities will include:

- A guided house tour of the Crane House & Historic YWCA where you will hear the collaboration with the African American community to tell the full history of the Crane House in a meaningful and permanent way.

- Helping to paint a community mural created by Montclair High School art students to depict friendship and amity among diverse races and peoples.

- Poetry, stories, music, and dramatizations highlighting examples from Montclair and U.S. history of people from different races striving together to build more just, equitable, and flourishing communities.

- Reading of the Montclair Race Amity Day proclamation issued by the town council in 2021.

- Stay for refreshments or bring a blanket and a picnic!

Free! No registration required.

As an act of service to the community, attendees are encouraged to bring donations of rice, canned tuna, peanut butter, soup, canned beans, or pasta sauce. Donations will be distributed to Toni’s Kitchen and Human Needs Pantry.
