The Olmsted firm designed more landscapes in Montclair than in any other New Jersey town except Newark. They include not just parks but church grounds, a swanky subdivision, private estates, a wooded reservation, and even a parking lot. Some endure while others leave just traces. As the nation celebrates the 200th birthday of Frederick Law Olmsted this month, it’s the perfect time to explore how his aesthetic and philosophy were expressed in Montclair. Presented by Lisanne Renner, historian for Friends of Anderson Park.
