Juneteenth Celebration!

  • Montclair History Center 108 Orange Road Montclair, NJ, 07042 United States (map)

For the first time, Montclair has scheduled a week long slate of activities to celebrate Juneteenth, the day that celebrates the emancipation of all enslaved workers in the United States. Each day’s celebration has a different theme.

The Montclair History Center’s 2014 film, A Place to Become, will be shown twice as part of the week-long celebration. Under the theme of Self-Reliance, the first showing will take place on Friday, June 18th at 7 pm at the Vanguard Theater, 180 Bloomfield Avenue. There will be a panel display on Montclair Black history prepared when COVID pre-empted the African American History Trolley Tour. The program is free.

This program repeats on Saturday at 2 pm.
