FREE ZOOM PRESENTATION
Bloomfield Avenue has some great early 20th century buildings, but all that would have changed if Walter Teague had his way. A prominent 20th century American industrial designer, Teague defined the Machine Age aesthetic — a streamlined style he applied to cameras, radios, lamps, a 1939 World’s Fair Pavilion, Texaco gas stations — and the old Hampton House building.
He didn’t stop there. He wanted to apply his signature style to ALL of Bloomfield Avenue. He drew up plans to sheath the buildings with his more modern style.
In this History at Home, architect Ira Smith of Smith Maran Architecture + Interiors LLC talks about Teague’s plans and gives you a glimpse into an alternative future for Bloomfield Avenue that never happened;
This program is the matinee program at noon. See the website for the 7 pm performance.
